GERARD BLACKBURN

​

Gerard joined the firm in 1978. Gerard handles all aspects of property work including commercial and residential conveyancing.

 

He has vast experience in dealing with civil litigation work, especially claims against negligent solicitors and surveyors, partnership and employment disputes and breach of contract cases.

 

Gerard also works in the Wills and Probate department and handles all aspects of Will disputes. In addition, he regularly advises in Court of Protection matters.

 

Gerard also deals with complex family financial provision cases following divorce.

CHRISTIAN SWINBURNE

Christian qualified in 1996 having trained in Chester-le-Street, and moved to Gateshead where he has practised ever since. His family have practiced Law in Gateshead since 1793 and he is the sixth generation of his family to do so. He has worked at Mulcahy Smith since 2014 and has been a partner at Mulcahy Smith since 2021.

 

Starting as a General Practitioner he undertook Civil litigation work for many years before specialising in Private Client work including Property and Estates work and looking after the needs of individuals in relation to the Preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Deputyships, Tax Planning, Probate and the Administration of Affairs and Estates.

Christian feels very much part of Gateshead and greatly enjoys helping Gateshead people with their needs and problems.

 

As well as practising as a Solicitor, Christian has been Trustee of the Genesis Trust, Journey, Newcastle City Centre Chaplaincy, Friends of Ushaw, Ampleforth Abbey Trading, Emily Matilda Easton Benefaction and many other small charitable trusts and institutions. He is also Area Representative of The Solicitors’ Charity formerly the Solicitors’ Benevolent Association.

 

Christian is married with three children and when he is not looking after his client's needs he looks after the needs of his family as well as his sheep, goats, cats, dogs, chickens and peacocks.

ZOE PARKES

Zoe has been conveying properties in the North East and beyond for over 10 years and she is friendly, efficient and effective.

 

She deals in all aspects of conveyancing including freeholds, leaseholds, sales, purchases, remortgages and auction purchases.

 

When not looking after her clients she looks after her young daughter and runs her own charity the Declan John Foundation.
