Gerard joined the firm in 1978 and is now the sole principal in the firm having formerly been in partnership since 1986.
Gerard handles all aspects of property work including commercial and residential conveyancing.
He has vast experience in dealing with civil litigation work, especially claims against negligent solicitors and surveyors, partnership and employment disputes and breach of contract cases.
Gerard also oversees the wills and probate department and handles all aspects of will disputes.
He also regularly advises in Court of Protection matters.
Gerard also deals with complex family financial provision cases following divorce.
Christian qualified in 1996 having trained in Chester-le-Street, moving to Gateshead where he has practised ever since.
Starting as a General Practitioner he undertook Civil litigation work for many years before specialising in Private Client work including Property and Estates work and looking after the needs of individuals in relation to the Preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Deputyships, Tax Planning and the Administration of Affairs and Estates.
As well as practising as a Solicitor, Christian is President of Gateshead CAB/Community Legal Advice Centre, Vice-Chair of Age UK Gateshead, Trustee of Nunnykirk School for Dyslexia, Trustee of the Genesis Trust and Patron of Daybreak.He is an Area Representative of the Solicitors Benevolent Association He is also a trustee of many other small charitable institutions.
Christian is married with three children and when he is not looking after his client's needs looks after those of his family as well as his pigs, chickens and peacocks.
Peter Graduated from Newcastle upon Tyne Polytechnic (Northumbria University) and was admitted as solicitor in 1978.
Peter founded and managed his own practice in Gateshead for over 25 years before being recruited to assist practices in the North West and then returning to Gateshead where he joined Mulcahy Smith in August 2017. Peter is renowned for his specialism in Clinical Negligence claimed (and celebrated as an expert in the Legal 500 and the chambers guide to the legal profession) He has continued to take on Litigation cases, Personal Injury cases and Clinical Negligence cases but also now has resumed his general practice in private client matters such as Wills, Probates and Conveyancing as well as commercial cases.
He has been chairman of the Newcastle upon Tyne and North Northumberland RSPCA for over 30 years and enjoys his political work both as a campaigner and as a member of Gateshead Council for 25 years.
Anita joined the firm in 1978.
She works within our Elderly Client department assisting the solicitors with deceased person's estates as well as assisting with Lasting Powers of Attorney
Outside of work, Anita enjoys reading, travelling and spending time with her grandchildren.
